It’s the dog days of summer and your fur-faced friend can overheat easily. Remember, we’re always wearing a fur coat so we get hot very quickly, especially if your dog is black overheating can happen even faster.
As dogs, we don’t sweat all over our bodies like people do. We mostly cool off from panting.
If your pooch’s body doesn’t clear the heat fast enough, yelp, heatstroke can set in. You can tell if your dog is suffering from heat stroke by watching for some of the signs:
- excessive panting and saliva
- dry gums that become pale
- confusion
- vomiting
- diarrhea
Heatstroke can lead to seizures, coma or death.
